The Enlightenment was a philosophical movement of the 18Th century characterized by belief in the power of human reason and questioning authority. Many enlightenment philosophers like John Locke, Voltaire, and Rousseau published their ideas on government.
Many Enlightenment philosophers influenced a change in society in many ways. John Locke, Voltaire, and Rousseau pushed their ideas of democracy on the people. John Locke pushed Natural Rights, which include life, liberty, and property. Voltaire was one of the most famous philosopher's who was imprisoned and started to follow the thoughts of John Locke based on Natural Rights and his view of government. Rousseau believed that people in their natural state were basically good.
