Napoleon Bonaparte!

Napoleon Bonaparte was a powerful force in Europe from 1799 to 1815. He rose from the ranks of the French army to become the emperor of France. By 1812 he had control of most of Europe. Unfortunately, he met his demise when he attempted to invade Russia. His downfall was almost as swift as his rise to power.

Napoleon Bonaparte was known as one of the greatest emperors in history to some, while the one of the worst to others. Some favored him for his belief in government "for" the people while others disliked him for his rejection of government "by" the people. Bonaparte had both positive and negative effects on Europe. Napoleon was portrayed as a very "power-hungry" conquerer. He focused more on gaining a stronger power of his own rather than of France. However, he did grant constitutions and fostered education. Napoleon abolished feudalism and introduced law codes too. He also created the first modern organized body of law governing in France in 1804, also known as the Napoleonic Code.
